GRIT: Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities

Lifework: GRIT Administrative Work

There are many areas to serve in the administrative team for GRIT. Some duties will be assigned and some require coordination to deliver timely materials as needed for each session. Consider any of the following areas of expertise needed.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and coordinate program days in partnership with leadership
  • Identify, coordinate and organize information packets, agendas, and other handouts
  • Procurement of needed items, expense report audits ensuring budget alignment
  • Assist with webpage edits, flyer creation and social media oversight
  • Alumni Engagement & Communication
  • Manage sponsorship process

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with budgets and purchasing
  • Event coordination skills/experience
  • Computer proficiency – MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

 

 

GRIT Program Days / Event Coordinator

Program days are busy with many moving parts. Volunteers will be asked to arrive early for set up and stay later for cleanup. This includes the Kick-Off meeting as well as Graduation. Experience in event planning or event management welcomed.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Organize volunteers and coordinate facility needs
  • Room set-up and be point of contact for emergency calls on program days
  • Registration table management
  • Greet attendees, facilitate games, other duties as needed

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Friendliness, a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Commitment to attending entire program day

 

GRIT Fundraising Coordinator

Event volunteers help GRIT raise funds for tuition, event expenses and program expansion. It is GRIT’s desire to provide opportunities for teens from all walks of life by leveling up the playing field.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Experience in fundraising or sales
  • Manage solicitor assignments and track proposals, stage aging, and ratings for each sponsor
  • Generate new business through prospecting, and other developed strategies
  • Product expert: develop and maintain strong knowledge of the GRIT program
  • Share feedback, observations, and new ideas/features that would enhance the program
  • Coordinate effort of advisory committee and table coaches activity

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong sense of empathy and a genuine desire to help teens succeed
  • Passion for building effective relationships and driving growth within our community
  • Exceptional communication skills: both written and oral
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Quantitative skill set with the ability to analyze data/results to support strategic recommendations

 

 

GRIT Marketing

Marketing is an essential part of how we share our message. Consider any of the following areas:

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Design webpage, graphics, promotions – Create marketing templates
  • Website Management and Social media campaign management and engagement
  • Create template videos and edit recorded videos
  • Create Marketing ads that bring in leads
  • Facebook and Instagram Page group management
  • Oversee all content creation, revision and optimization across multiple platforms
  • Manage the content calendar in support of our overall marketing plan
  • Develop and implement innovative communications strategies and plans
  • Establish a regular cadence of relevant, easily accessible content through various communication channels
  • Monitor communication plan milestone completion
  • Create and manage Alumni engagement & communication

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of content marketing tactics, such as SEO, email campaigns, and social media marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An aptitude for working with graphics-based computer applications (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.), as well as Marketing Automation systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Must be creative, energetic, extremely organized and detail-oriented

 

GRIT Table Coach

Table coaches are a critical component for this program. The table coach needs to be able to provide a safe place for teens to share and learn. This role requires people who know how to welcome and love others while sharing wisdom and knowledge.

 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Coach and develop teens in the four GRIT focus areas: God, Relationship, Individual and Treasure
  • Facilitate conversation about training programs and resources including DISC and Financial theories
  • Motivate, monitor and analyze teens performance progress
  • Identify potential problems and intervene as necessary to ensure student success
  • Invest in the personal relationship with the teens. This could include social events, prayer, and ongoing communication with students in addition to the monthly sessions

  • Effective Communicator & Teacher
  • Good Listener
  • Disciplined, Strong in Character and Integrity
  • Education: Must be a Life Work First Coast Graduate
  • Experience: Demonstrated coaching or consulting skills, experience using a variety of specialized coaching and development tools such as assessments and simulations
  • Reliability: Availability to attend all sessions
